A new federal bank survey finds increased manufacturing activity in Oklahoma and the other states that make up the Federal Reserve Bank District of Kansas City. A federal bank survey has found increased manufacturing activity in Oklahoma and the other states that make up the Federal Reserve Bank District of Kansas City. The October survey revealed that activity in the Tenth District manufacturing sector increased steadily and expectations for future activity remained expansionary. Over half of firms reported their customers were more sensitive to price changes now than six months ago. Both durable and nondurable manufacturing activity slowed slightly, but there was strong growth in printing activities. All month-over-month indexes were positive except for new orders for exports and the employment index. The survey also revealed that 16% of firms were unable to pass through their higher costs to customers in the form of higher prices, while 35% of companies reported being able to pass on 1-20% of their higher cost. The Federal Reserve bank serves the Tenth Federal Reserve District, covering the western third of Missouri, all of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
