Kansas City librarians and booksellers have shared their top spooky seasonal recommendations for the Halloween season. Angie Strathman, a reader engagement librarian at the Fairway Library, and Justin Dickinson, a bookseller at Fairway, highlighted their favorite horror book, "Scream with Me: Horror Films and the Rise to American Feminism" by Eleanor Johnson, a series of essays exploring how six iconic horror movies influenced, or were influenced, the rise in American feminism. Other notable titles include "The Everlasting" by an orphaned girl who becomes a knight and "The Slantwise Histories" by a collection of short folk tales and fairytales. The remainder of the series has been picked up by Penguin Random House.
