It's Brookside's women-owned weekend, and on one block of 63rd Street and Brookside Boulevard, every single business is women-owned. KSHB 41's Braden Bates shares the story. All businesses on a one block of 63rd Street and Brookside Boulevard in Brookside Plaza are participating in the Women-Owned Weekend, a weekend where every business on the block is women-owned. Katie Mabry van Dieren, owner of Shop Local KC, owns two locations of ShopLocal KC, one at Crown Center and the other in Brookshire Plaza. Alexandra Nuttall's business, Maison Design and Builds, shares her advice for the next generation of women entrepreneurs: "Don't give up on the dream you have. Work hard and don't give away." Mararielle Kokos, owner on the same block, says her first year on the street has been a treat. Leah Krieger and Megan Reilly, owners of Foo's Fabulous Custard Company, believe the normalization of women business owners is showing progress.
