Kansas City churches blend faith, music and message to encourage voting
With less than two weeks until election day, groups are organizing and encouraging people to get out and vote. Kansas City churches have held an event at Country Club Christian Church in a church to encourage voting, using faith, music, and songs to encourage over 100 people from different congregations to vote. The event included speeches from religious leaders who emphasized the importance of voting, including Bishop William Barber II, the president of Repairers of the Breach. The theme of the event was realizing the power of voting in casting your ballot and encouraging others to do so. The Rev. Mindy Fugarino of Independence Boulevard Christian Church read the passage of David and Goliath, along with prayers and songs. The march to the poll event will be held on Sunday, October 31 at Spirit of Freedom Park.
