Still crippled by cyberattack, KC Scout to test initial phases of restoration
In early May, KC Scout stated that it would be down for several weeks. The root of the cyberattack has not yet been publicized. On April 25, KC Scout, a bi-state initiative between KDOT and MoDOT, experienced a cyberattack that impacted its travel and traffic information services for the greater Kansas City area. Over six weeks after the attack, the organization is set to test its first phase of restoration by publishing test messages on its highway digital signs on June 12. If successful, real-time information should return to the boards next week, according to KC Scout. The root of the cyberattack has not yet been disclosed.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - On April 25, KC Scout suffered a cyberattack, essentially negating all of its travel and traffic information services for the greater Kansas City area. More than six weeks later, the organization will test its first phase of restoration.
The bi-state initiative between KDOT and MoDOT will publish test messages on its highway digital signs beginning Wednesday, June 12.
“If testing is successful, real-time information should return to the boards in the next week,” KC Scout stated. “Returning real-time information is considered the first step to restoring all KC Scout systems and services.”
Immediate and critical traffic information impacting the KC metro area is being shared through modot.org in Missouri and KanDrive.gov in Kansas, KC Scout relayed.
