ICE arrest of Wichita bakery owner leads to Saturday protest
The protest, attended by close to 75 people, happened near Douglas and Seneca in Wichita on Saturday. Rob Attar, owner of La Galette Bakery and Cafe in Wichita, Kansas, is being held by ICE and facing deportation to Lebanon. Attar was arrested after becoming involved in a money-and-cocaine-for-guns sting at 23 and losing his green card due to his involvement. He was allowed to stay for 20 years as long as he kept out of trouble and reported in to immigration authorities once a year. However, when he went to his annual check-in, he was set up for deportation. A group of supporters rallied for him outside his popular restaurant. The future of the Attar family is uncertain as Rob's expertise may leave the business without him.
