Missouri director: Children’s Mercy, insurers talking, but no quick fix to coverage issues
On Friday, the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI) shared that Children's Mercy hospital and four insurance companies are having preliminary conversations. Children's Mercy, a Missouri hospital, has announced it will no longer be in-network with any ACA Marketplace plan in January due to Medica leaving the marketplace. The state's Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI) has confirmed preliminary discussions between Children's Mercy and four insurance companies, including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Ambetter. However, the Missouri DCI Director, Angela Nelson, stated that there is no quick resolution due to insurers' federally locked rates. She recommended that marketplace families should contact their provider with Children’s Mercy now to discuss a transition plan, research off-exchange or employer plans if that is an option.
