Wichita suburb plans $13M road construction project that includes a roundabout
It won’t start until the community completes a different major road project underway now. The city of Bel Aire is planning a $13M road construction project, which will begin after Woodlawn reconstruction is completed. The project will include a three-lane roadway, two sidewalks, and a roundabout. The design contract was approved in 2023 and the estimated cost of $13.7 million could change as plans are updated. The council also approved a $119,903 design contract amendment with Garver to relocate portions of the water main to be compatible with the construction project. The water relocation is expected to be complete in July 2027, but the city is still at least a year out from the full construction project bid date.
