Here’s who’s endorsing — and opposing — Wichita schools’ $615 million bond

The passage of the bond would determine whether more than a dozen schools undergo major construction and future property tax rates. Supporters and opponents of a $615 million bond for Wichita Public Schools are rallying behind the campaign ahead of the Nov. 3 election. The groups, "Vote Yes Yes 4 Wichita Kids" and the "Improve Learning First Coalition," have secured endorsements from various organizations ahead of a two-question bond vote. The vote will determine if the schools will receive major renovations, rebuilds or other construction and property tax rates would be affected. The Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce voted to support the bond resolution largely due to its impact on strengthening the city’s pipeline of educated, skilled and workforce-ready graduates. The Greater Wichita Partnership’s board also voted to back the bond issue.
