Oregon father reflects on stopping Silver Rail Elementary School shooter - Full Interview
Oregon father Kaylub Giamanco reflects on intervening during a school shooting at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend. Kaylub Giamanco, a father who intervened when a 16-year-old gunman opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, has shared his interview with Oregon Public Broadcasting following a request from KTVZ News for limited interviews. Despite saving lives, Giamano remains haunted by the lives he was unable to save. He described seeing the gunman throw his rifle over a fence and grabbing his gun from the center console, loaded a magazine, and headed toward the school parking lot. He saw a teacher struggling with the gunman and saw an opening for him, opening the door and shooting him two times. Despite initial panic, Gliamanco managed to jump a fence for cover and sprint towards the building as the gunman fired two shots into the double doors. He then dropped his weapon to the ground and called for help.
