Kansas City’s Turkey Creek flood project finally complete after 30 years
Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City Kan., celebrated the completion of the Turkey Creek Flood Control Project Thursday. The Turkey Creek Flood Control Project in Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City Kan., has been completed after nearly three decades of planning. The bi-state effort broke ground in 2004 and had been in the works since 1997. The project, focused on Turkey Creek, aimed to protect homes and businesses in that area from destructive flooding. The Army Corps of Engineers is now working with Merriam on the Upper Turkey Creek project for Downtown Merriams, which is still in planning and design.
