New UMKC streetcar wrap connects campus to downtown for Roos basketball
The UMKC-themed streetcar stops are at 51st Street and Brookside Boulevard and the northbound Power & Light stop. The University of Missouri-Kansas City and KC Streetcar have unveiled a new themed streetcar wrap, which connects campus to downtown for basketball season. The move is part of a celebration of the connection between the university, Kansas City and Roo fans. The unveiling also marked the anniversary of the 3.5-mile KC Streetcor Main Street Extension, which opened Oct. 24, 2025, connecting UMKC to the existing downtown route. The streetcar offers a free connection between campus and downtown as men’s basketball returns to Municipal Auditorium and women’s hoops at Swinney Center.
