The Pink Bag Project provides period products for young girls in Jackson County
A Blue Springs woman and her volunteers fill upcycled makeup bags with period products and delivering them to schools, libraries and more to help young girls. The Pink Bag Project, established by Laylan Pennel in 2024, aims to provide period products for young girls in Jackson County, aiming to make girls' periods easier the first time. The project involves collecting donations and collecting period products in Ipsy makeup bags, which are then packed into bags and delivered to schools, libraries, and anywhere else. Pennel and her volunteers have packed an estimated 1,300 bags. The goal is to ensure that girls have access to period supplies regardless of where they are.
