Nebraska's governor, Jim Pillen, honored Paul Contreras, a Bellevue man who helped tackle a suspected shooter at the Kansas City Chiefs parade. The governor called him an "extraordinary Nebraskan." Contreas, along with a Wichita man, tackled a possible suspect during the event and pinned the person down until police arrived. The recognition was made at the capitol on Thursday. Contrera was also honored by his employer, MUD, in February for a distinguished service award.
