KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - We are looking toward the weekend with bright skies and warm afternoons ahead. That said, there is a First Warn for Saturday, as storms look to move in for part of it.

We’re clear and dry for now, though it will turn a bit cold overnight. Lows will dip to near the freezing point by early Friday morning, and we have a Frost Advisory for the metro and surrounding areas from midnight until 8 am. A Freeze Warning is in place in father northeast for locations such as Chillicothe, Bethany, and Carrollton.

Friday afternoon will be simply excellent with warmer highs in the low 60s, a gentle east breeze at 5-10 mph, and lots of blue skies. Saturday will also be very enjoyable for much of the day, as we warm even further to the low 70s with sunshine. You will notice a stiff southeast wind that will gust beyond 30 mph in the afternoon and evening.

The First Warn comes into play Saturday evening and Saturday night as a healthy line of showers and a few embedded thunderstorms moves in along a warm front. It could begin as early as sunset, but most likely the bulk of it will swing by overnight. The risk for strong to severe storms is low, but not impossible. In general, this looks to be just showers and scattered storms for our area.

The rain quickly clears Sunday, leaving just a 20% chance for a stray morning shower. The afternoon turns bright and mild again, with highs near 70s, but it will be windy again.

Monday marks the solar eclipse, and weather looks to cooperate in our area. We look dry and likely not obscured by clouds, with a 75% chance for favorable viewing.
