KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A convicted felon accused of shooting his girlfriend and leaving her and her child in a Kansas City, Mo., roadway has been charged with domestic assault and child endangerment.

Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd announced on Thursday, April 4, that Lee “Quincy” Hill was arrested on Wednesday following a hotel room standoff with police. He was accused of shooting a woman in the leg while she was a passenger and leaving her and her child in the road.

Zahnd noted that charges against Hill, a convicted felon, were filed after the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department investigated and searched for him.

“We allege this man--a convicted felon who should never have had a gun in the first place--shot a woman, left her and a child on a roadway, fled the scene, and later barricaded himself in a hotel with a handgun,” Zahn said.

Court documents noted that around 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, police were called to a Platte Co. hotel where a woman was found lying in traffic with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper thigh. Witnesses said a child in a diaper had been left in the road with her.

According to court records, the victim told police she had gotten into an argument with Hill, her romantic partner after she was let to pick him up from work. He threatened to kill her before he grabbed her by her hair, put a gun to her thigh and pulled the trigger.

After the victim realized she had been shot, she told police she had gotten out of the vehicle and called 911. Hill allegedly removed the child from the vehicle, put them on the ground and sped away with the vehicle.

Police noted that the child’s blanket and jacket were covered in blood. Their diaper also had apparent blood stains, however, the child appeared unhurt.

Court documents further alleged that just before 9:30 a.m. on April 3, law enforcement officials went to a hotel where Hill had been staying. They were able to make contact with him before he barricaded himself in his hotel room and spurred a standoff. A search warrant was obtained and Hillw was arrested around 2:45 p.m.

After the standoff, court records showed a 9mm handgun in Hill’s hotel room. He was charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, felon in possession of a firearm and child endangerment. He has also been charged as a persistent offender which could increase the chance of possible prison time.

According to Zahnd, Hill faces up to life in prison. He was convicted of second-degree murder in 2001 and felon in possession of a firearm in 2019. He remains behind bars in the Platte Co. Jail without bond.
