FIRST WARN FORECAST: Wicked wind, high pollen and cool temps take hold Wednesday. How long will it last?

Wind advisories are just outside of the metro starting at 7 o’clock this morning and will continue until 7 tonight. High pressure is developing from the northwest, squeezing the atmosphere and providing high winds within the Kansas City metro, creating gusts up to 40 mph. This can cause temperatures to only reach the lower 50s this afternoon and could lead to high winds. Wind advisories outside of the metro will continue until 7 tonight, with potential updates expected. The wind will slowly decrease as we move into Thursday's forecast, with temperatures expected to return to the middle and upper 50s on Thursday. A new area of low pressure is emerging within regions of Colorado and Wyoming and will take over by Friday night, providing warmer air for the weekend. For the eclipse event Monday, temperatures are expected to peak in the middle 60s and lower 70s, but there is a chance of rain and thunderstorms.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Low pressure continues to track towards the east as high pressure begins to develop from the northwest, squeezing the atmosphere and providing high wind out of the northwest. This can create gusts up to 40 mph within the metro with temperatures only making it to the lower 50s this afternoon.

Wind advisories are just outside of the metro starting at 7 o’clock this morning and will continue until 7 tonight. I would not be surprised if we see updates to the wind advisories that may encompass counties within the metro so please stay cautious while navigating major interstates next to high-profile vehicles, and also make sure to bring in your trash cans and any outdoor patio furniture or lawn decorations that may be picked up in these high winds.

The gust will slowly depreciate as we move into Thursday’s forecast.

Mostly sunny conditions and slow rebounding temperatures to the middle and upper 50s on Thursday. Friday temperatures will return to seasonable within the lower 60s. During this time, a new area of low pressure is beginning to develop within regions of Colorado and Wyoming. A new southerly component with our wind will take over by Friday night providing warmer air for the weekend.

Temperatures for Saturday and Sunday -- upper 60s and lower 70s but clouds will begin to develop and a chance for wet weather increases Saturday night into Sunday morning. Shower activity and potential isolated thunderstorms move out by late Sunday morning with partly cloudy skies taking over and gusts up to 30 mph.

For the eclipse event Monday, mostly clear to partly cloudy skies for us with temperatures expected to peak in the middle 60s. Kansas City has a pretty good chance of seeing clear enough skies to witness the eclipse, cloud cover is more likely towards the southern end of Missouri.
