Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Kansas City with 4-0 Victory

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton women's tennis soared to a 4-0 victory over Kansas City inside the Hanscom Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. The Creighton women's tennis team defeated Kansas City 4-0 at the Hanscom Tennis Center, improving their record to 11-6 on the year. Creighton's victories included wins at the top two doubles positions and a 7-3 victory on the No. 1 doubles court. The Bluejays also secured a 3-0 lead in singles play. Head coach praised the team's efforts despite injuries and sore bodies. The team will return to action against South Dakota on Thursday, April 4.

The Creighton women's tennis soared to a 4-0 victory over Kansas City inside the Hanscom Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.With the win, the Bluejays improved to 11-6 on the year, while Kansas City fell to 5-10 overall with the loss."Credit to our girl's for coming out ready to compete hard, even though we have some sore bodies and a few injuries to deal with," said head coach. "I liked how we are battling hard every time out regardless of location or opponent. We will get back after it on Monday and prepare for a really good South Dakota team next Thursday."Creighton sandwiched a pair of wins at the top two doubles position to earn the doubles point and give the Bluejays a 1-0 lead. Seniorand juniorpicked up their seventh consecutive doubles win, claiming a 6-3 victory on the No. 1 doubles court. Seniorand juniorthen clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 triumph at the No. 2 doubles spot.The Bluejays carried the early momentum into singles play, collecting a trio of straight-set victories to clinch the overall dual, 4-0.Kongara cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 singles spot for her sixth consecutive singles win, while Rademacher earned a 6-2, 6-1 win on the No. 3 singles court to give CU a 3-0 advantage. Shukla then clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 1 singles position.Creighton returns to action on Thursday, April 4 at 12:30 p.m. for a match against South Dakota at the Hanscom Tennis Center.
